About MCMA
The Minnesota City/County Management Association (MCMA) is the professional and educational organization for appointed management executives and assistants serving cities, counties and other local governments in Minnesota. MCMA is a state association affiliate of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), headquartered in Washington, D.C.
The first president of MCMA, Earl Wagner of Wayzata, took office in 1951. The Association adopted its first constitution in 1953 and is currently incorporated as a Minnesota non-profit corporation.
The purposes of MCMA are:

To increase the management proficiency of members and other urban administrators;

To strengthen the quality of urban government through professional management and to share professional experience.

To maintain the high ethical standards of the profession of local government management and to recognize the historical significance of the council-manager form of local government organization.

To educate the citizenry and students about the merits of professional local government management with the council-manager form serving as a model.

Secretariat services to support MCMA are provided by contract with the League of Minnesota Cities. The MCMA Secretariat Officer is Madison Hagenau, LMC Member Engagement Coordinator.
